Hello everyone.  Since I’ve become a mom and a blogger, I’ve struggled with finding a fashion and style that works for my lifestyle.  Long gone are the skirts and pumps I donned for my work as a lawyer for an entertainment company in mid-town.  Those skirts and shoes are now at the back of my closet.  When I do find myself in a store, I’ve learned to put each item I like into question, by asking myself questions such as: Will I really wear it?  How often?  How useful is this for me and is it worth the money?

Because I do believe we modern moms, especially those of us who work from home, have such different needs when it comes to fashion, I am so thrilled to finally be introducing a weekly fashion post here on CloudMom.com.  Don’t expect Vogue because Marc is the photographer and yours truly, the model!  I plan to snap whatever outfit worked best for me during a given week and reach out to you all and see what you think!  With our fashion series, my goal is start a conversation about what makes sense and is comfortable and practical when you are trying to work several things into your day as a mom: working out, shuffling kids, grocery shopping, computer time, and ideally, a fun coffee, dinner or drink out with your partner or pals.

We have so many giveaways going on right now that even my head is spinning, but how awesome right?  You have to seize the day and I’m trying to bring as much good stuff to you guys as I can.

OK, so what did I wear this week that made me feel comfy, stylish, and happy?  Last Saturday night, for date night, I paired one of my favorite pairs of ONZIE yoga pants with a blousy black top, blazer, and my fav cowboy boots.  I had been wearing the ONZIE pants during the day and simply did not want to take them off because they were so comfortable.  So I didn’t!  How liberating!

My cowboy boots seem like old, loyal friends to me.  I slip them on in the morning to drop off the kids and on a lucky day, to go to yoga.  They are so comfy and I’ve had them for so long they are molded to my feet.  I wear them all throughout the year.  My Uncle Will in Colorado helped me find them, and they are made by a company called Honcho Boots out of El Paso, Texas.  Them Texans know their boots.  Uncle Will has had his for years and the quality is impeccable.  Plus, if you have a leather or design you like, Sydney from Honcho will make them just as you like.  Honcho post are reasonably priced for such a high-quality item that lasts a lifetime and I can’t recommend them enough.

My black top is from Club Monaco, and it’s one of those wardrobe essentials too.  It has a blousy, loose look and great as a postpartum top when you are trying to cover your tummy, but it still looks sleek and fun.  I think this top is great with skinny jeans, white pants, or any black pant.   I’ve had mine for about three years and it’s no worse for the wear.  You can also put a camisole underneath of a different color and pull down the neckline to add some color.

And finally for the blazer.  A fitted black blazer is a great addition to any mom’s wardrobe because it’s so flexible and can immediately transform a casual look into something more dressy.  Mine is from a company called  Karen Millen.  Check out their amazing stuff right now, there’s a huge sale going on and the designs are super – you might be able to score a Karen Millen jacket of your own!

After our brief photo shoot — ha ha — we walked off to dinner and had a great time at a new Italian place around the corner.  We got home in time to put everyone to bed after their Saturday night movie.  Oh, and I must confess that the next morning, I had my ONZIE yoga clothes back on again for a 7 a.m. Bikram yoga class before the little ones awoke.  How’s that for flexible, useful, wearable and yet sleek fashion? I’m hoping this athleisure trend sticks around for a long time!

There are really no rules when it comes to what to wear with leggings, so have fun with it and use your outfit choice to show of your own personal style! Whatever makes you feel happy and confident.
