Many studies and reports have been issued regarding sources of lead exposure for children, but it’s only recently that researchers have started looking into the lead and metals contained in lipsticks and lip glosses . The study – published in May in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives – found traces of aluminum, chromium, and manganese along with other metals and lead in 24 lip glosses and eight lipstick brands. As reported by the New York Times the researches picked the products because they were favorites of teenage girls at a community health center in Oakland, California! These girls reported applying their glosses up to 24 times a day.
