Hi, everyone! Melissa at CloudMom here with a fun question from Angel Barrett, one of our Facebook community moms. Her question was this: what is the best toy for your child from the age of 3 months to one year? If you have watched my videos before, you may know that I absolutely love babies and finding new toys for them, so this was a great question for me to answer!

What are the best toys for 3-month-olds and older?
Even though my “baby” is three-years-old now, I still keep some baby toys around the house. One of my all-time favorite toys for younger babies is the activity play mat, such as this Tiny Love Super Deluxe gym set sold for about $50. This square, colorful mat usually has two crossing arches and has dangling animals, shapes, and even music! This provides a lot of stimulation and fun for your baby, and it’s an easy place to put your baby down once he/she has been fed and burped. You can watch them progress through stages of development as they start to gain upper body strength and grasping for the objects, too!
Once your baby gets a little bit older and starts grasping objects on their baby play mats, I would highly recommend wooden stacking sets such as this Melissa and Doug geometric stacking board and this Melissa and Doug stack and sort play set. These range from about $10-$15, and they provide hours of fun for your little ones! These help improve hand-eye coordination, and babies love to stack. One of my other favorite toys is this Melissa and Doug shape-sorting box. At $15, it’s inexpensive, and babies have so much fun trying to figure out how to get the shapes into the box.
As always, safety is a huge concern for toys, so I found that looking for high-quality toys made with safe paints was the best option for me. Since this is the stage where babies will try to stick everything into their mouths, I found that wooden objects are also a great option.
