Hello, hello, mamas and papas! Now that you’ve built up a little wardrobe of onesies and other cute clothes for your little gem, you’re going to want a little bit of insurance for that collection. I’m talking about the messes your baby makes, from drooling to dripping milk. Some bibs are a good investment to make cleaning easier and preserve baby’s clothes. I have a video introducing you to the styles of bibs that you can check out, or read on for my picks of the best baby bibs:
1. Simple Joys by Carter’s 7-Pack Teething Bibs
- Best teething bibs
- Waterproof barrier for easy washing
- A good value bib, overall
I love just about everything in the Carter’s collection, and these are no exception! These Carter’s teething bibs are a superb value, and likely the best teething bibs you can get. You get a pack of seven bibs in assorted colors with one-shoulder snap-button closure. Their waterproof barrier catches drool and makes for easy washing.
Parents attest that drool is no match for these bibs. The barrier is very effective at keeping the drool from penetrating through to the fabric. Hence, where a flimsier bib will fail you quickly, one of these will endure many washes. Plus, you get seven in a set!
2. Happy Healthy Parent Silicone Baby Bibs
- Best silicone bibs
- Avoids the constant washing and replacement of cotton bibs
- Silicone is more supple than rivals
These Happy Healthy Parent bibs are the best silicone bibs you can get. Since they’re made of silicone instead of cloth, you save time, money, and energy on washes: you can just wipe these clean. They’re made of 100-percent food-grade silicone, which resists discoloration and absorption of odors. Lastly, they feature big pockets to catch food!
Parents attest that these bibs are a great investment, since they eliminate the need to replace cloth bibs and are so easy to clean. Plus, the silicone feels nice and supple, as opposed to the stiff feel of some other silicone bibs. It’s hard to go wrong here.
3. Burt’s Bees Organic 4-Pack Baby Bibs
- Best organic bib
- Rib knit instead of jersey knit for superior stretchiness
- No snaps or Velcro, for a quieter bib
These Burt’s Bees bibs are the best organic bibs. They’re made of 100-percent organic cotton, and their rib knit fabric is stretchier than the jersey knit that one commonly finds in bibs. (For comparison, consider the difference in stretchiness between your own rib- and jersey-knit blouses or dresses.)
Parents appreciate how big these bibs are. They also like that they don’t have snaps or Velcro, making them less noisy than the typical bib. Finally, they’re very soft. The only trouble is that the neck opening is rather narrow, which a baby with a bigger head might have trouble squeezing into.
4. BABYBJÖRN Baby Bib, 2 Pack
- Another excellent silicone bib/li>
- Non-chafing neckband for optimal comfort
- Better for babies at least a year old
These Babybjörn bibs are another great choice for silicone bibs. Their distinguishing feature is their non-chafing neckband, which can be fastened to a perfect fit for your baby. As one expects from a good silicone bib, they have a deep pocket for extra mess-catching power. You can get these in sets of two, with three pastel combinations to choose from.
Parents love that this bib offers so much coverage and is so easy to clean. What’s more, it gets the green light from babies too, who like the comfort of the neckband. That being said, it’s better for older babies, at least a year old.
5. Bumkins SuperBib
- Best smock bib
- Notably larger than standard bib, at 10×9
- Great for avoiding messes as best as possible
The Bumkins SuperBib, intended for babies aged 6 to 24 months, is a great choice if you’re looking for a smock bib. It’s larger than the standard bib, at 10 by 9 inches. I like this bib for clothes that I’m especially zealous to keep clean, or if I’m just strapped for time and looking to keep down on messes.
Parents rave about how easy these bids with the catch trays are to clean, but they suggest that they’re optimal for younger kids. Once your child is old enough to feed themselves, this bib might become uncomfortable due to its rigidity.
