One of the many benefits of bikram yoga is that you can find it in many major cities. I’ve practiced Bikram in New York, Connecticut, Paris, Rio, Barcelona, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and just this morning in Munich! Finding new Bikram studios has become a hobby of mine. It’s fun to see the differences in the studios and to experience the small variations in teaching. In Paris, for example, Bikram teachers tend to be extremely strict. No wiping with your towel and no “party time” aka water break. Munich was less so, and offered fresh apples and tea. Go figure!

Earlier in the summer I practiced yoga on the beach at Spain’s Costa Brava. Although offering gorgeous views and the calm of the sea air, beach yoga comes with its challenges. First, finding your balance on the sand is trickier than on a flat surface. The beating sun poses another challenge (hence the sunglasses). When your ever-so-patient photographer aka lovely husband gets grumpy because he wants to lie on the sand and read, you have to be happy with two shots.
