WW #52: Chocolate Birthday Cake & Broadway

Hello everyone!  I’ve got about 10 minutes today before I have to bring Lachlan to a futsal game so this Weekly Wrap Up is going to be brief.

This week went by in a flash.  One highpoint was a little group lunch for Beckett’s birthday, featuring my buddy Hindola who’s my sister’s friend too.  Here’s the delicious salmon we enjoyed.  With lentils and spinach on the side, the dish was healthy to boot.

Tonight I’ll be writing a journal entry for my next milestone college reunion.  Here are some of my good old friends.  I’m getting so excited to see these lovely ladies in May.  Our lives have spread us across the country, but we remain bonded.   Notice the bob I sported for most of my college years!

Here’s the cake from Beckett’s little gathering, which included lunch, a showing of Kung Fu Panda III (guess who took a nap during the show?  yup!) and this amazing cake from our favorite place, Magnolia Bakery here in New York.  We’re enjoying the leftovers.

Friday night my sister and I celebrated our January birthdays by going to see the Broadway show, “On Your Feet”, the Gloria Estefan musical based on her life.  Given my close Cuban-American girl friends, I loved the theme of these Cuban emigrants and what it took to achieve success in the American musical market.  Gloria overcame so much, including a nearly fatal accident and spinal surgery.  Her life inspired me to keep moving ahead and working your very hardest on what matter’s to you most.

For me, that includes taking care of my family and friends, trying to be the best mom, wife, and friend I can be, and dedicating myself to CloudMom, my 6th child.  The music had us dancing and happy, and I’ll savor the memories of this special night.Gloria Estefan musical

So that’s about it from my neck of the woods.  Hope you all have had an amazing week and that your weekend is going great.  Sending love your way and thanks so much for following Cloudmom!  Oh, and tell me what you’re inspired to be in the comments.  I love hearing from you guys.

As I get older, my inspiration changes. I am inspired by my marriage. It really is motivating because we have been together for over 29 years and we will celebrate our 28th in April. I am encouraged to be a better partner, showing even more love and compassion. We worked hard in our relationship, want to continue to make it even better.

At this stage in my life I am inspired to be the best mom I can be. I spent years in college earning advanced degrees and achieved my career goal of being a university professor but once my kids were born all I wanted was to be with them so I left academia to devote my life to them. Thanks for your generosity, love reading your articles.
