Hello everyone and welcome back to my Weekly Wrap Up. Last weekend, Marc and I took our boys upstate to try skiing in Lake Placid, NY.
What’s your favorite type of family vacation? Mine is — surprise — skiing. Read on for why and to enter our Weekly Wrap Up!
First stop among the terrific things to do in Lake Placid, the Lake Placid Olympic Museum. Filled with tributes to the 1980 U.S. Men’s hockey team who historically wrestled the gold medal away from the Russians, the museum held our interest for a good hour. The boys loved watching that historic hockey game on video, exploring the other memorabilia, and learning more about the various Olympic winter sports including speed skating, figure skating, and curling! Here are some Opening Ceremony outfits from Olympics past. Cozy and patriotic. In addition to being a great town, Lake Placid boasts one of the finest East Coast ski resorts. After a challenging time convincing my boys to layer up, we hit the slopes. The majestic views made up for cold winds that nipped our cheeks. Many runs and hot chocolates later, we ended our day contented and tired. My favorite part of skiing is taking the chair lift with the kids and having the chance and time to chat with each of them individually. When you have the opportunity to grab quality time with your kiddos, grab it. If things are getting stressful at home (as it does for us) get out of the house. Try taking a walk, hitting the park with a ball, getting out your bikes, whatever it takes. Find a way to create an adventure with your kids — you’ll bond over the memories you savor and then store.
Stay warm, and thanks for reading.
