Striped Dress Outfit with Booties

Hello mamas and welcome back to another fashion post. Last Friday, we celebrated Beckett’s 10th birthday at a lower East side pool hall and classic Italian restaurant. Not being one to spend a lot of time playing pool, I really had no idea what to wear. Since I don’t get gussied up that often, I wanted to put on something festive yet still casual.
I spotted this Opening Ceremony dress in a fashion magazine while I was getting my nails done, and bought it online on a whim. I’m so glad I did. The dress fits so comfortably and can go casual or dressy. To me it’s the perfect dress to wear with booties, but I also can imagine it with white tennis sneakers. I have my gold-studded booties on below. If you’ve ever wondered how to wear booties, I would suggest either a short flared skirt or a long fitted skirt like this. Skinny jeans also are a safe bet.
I’m a sucker for black and white stripes. The Opening Ceremony dress weaves some brown, gold and navy into the black and white, while varying the width of the stripes, to add some interest. The gold stripes ensure an easy transition from day to evening. Love that! The cream-colored knitted cuffs add an old-world touch to a modern look. Here’s the dress from the back, sleek and simple. In my new Opening Ceremony dress, I felt as comfortable as I do in my yoga pants, yet dressed up enough to commemorate the special occasion. You only turn 10 once!
Beckett’s birthday went off without a hitch. Within minutes, we had converted the trickier pool tables into ping pong tables and the boys giddily organized their own tournament. Keeping busy, they were off their phones much to their parents’ content.
Thanks so much for reading, and check back in next week for another fashion post!
