Hello, fashionista mamas. Following last year’s trend, this year is all about the asymmetric dress. Asymmetric (not an easy word to spell!) dresses provide such a cute twist to the comfort and ease of long dresses, which work so well during the fall or spring. This Maje asymmetrical formal dress with three-quarter sleeves is so versatile! Imagine this for a work meeting, dinner with your in-laws, or even a romantic dinner out.

In addition to the fun juxtaposition of mustard-yellow and navy, this silky dress offers a high cinched waist which flatters an array of figures. On the bottom, you’ll spot my DSW gold-tipped booties. Marc snapped these pictures before we sat down for a Friday night catch-up with another American couple we have met in Barcelona. It was fun to swap ex-pat stories and share some good ole steak with this couple. We made it to the second bottle of yummy Spanish red wine, too, which made for a a good bonding session.

Back to the outfit! You can’t tell from the pictures, but I also wore steel-grey tights which looked better than black and pulled together the navy from the dress and the shiny black of the shoes.

And for once, some decent lighting for our photo shoot.

Let’s talk overall shopping strategies since moms are short on time and minding their budget with all the items we need to buy for the kiddos. If — like me — you only invest in a few pieces per season, consider items like this dress which you can dress up or down.
