Early Winter Style

Casual winter outfits that feel light and easy to wear are hard to come by. Having lived in New York for 18 years, I’ve grown a bit weary of the long down coat. Don’t get me wrong, puffy coats are ideal for freezing winter days, snow and sleet. But in late winter/early fall, if the sun is out, an opportunity looms before you! You can wear a lighter wool or shearling coat that keeps you warm yet feeling fashionable and free to move.
Winter Style for Moms
And so I did yesterday, fishing an Overland coat purchased in Colorado out of the back of our front-hall closet and matching it with putty-colored tights and Cole Haan booties. Off I went to the East Side to catch the Munch exhibit with a friend at the Met Breuer. After a brisk walk home through Central Park, I felt rejuvenated and ready to tackle the heated parent-child negotiations of the evening hours!
Neutral colors are great for busy moms since you can layer them without thinking too much. Beiges, whites, grays, creams and browns, for example, look great year round.
Happy early winter, gorgeous mamas!
