1960s Fashion — Puff-Sleeve High Neck Sweater

Hello mamas! Melissa here back with another fashion post. Since I’m always dashing here and fro and throwing things on at the last minute, it’s so much fun to take a step back each week and reflect with you all about what outfits worked! Today I’m showing one of my staple sweaters of this past winter which I’m using a lot now even in April: a 60’s inspired puff-sleeve maroon sweater.
Vintage fashion provides such a fun opportunity for us moms who are classic dressers to add a little splash to our wardrobes! I try to hold onto all my vintage pieces because as my mother taught me, they always come back. I recently pulled a pair of suede wedge boots out of my closet that I purchased 20 years ago!!
This maroon sweater (and sorry that the lighting is not better) goes great with jeans (mine here are grey), black pants, or leather pants and fits nicely. It’s classic while having a fun twist thanks to its puff sleeves. I fell in love with this sweater at a little boutique around the corner from me in NYC last fall and haven’t looked back since (in other words, I’ve worn it too much!).
Puff sleeves were one of the big 60’s fashion trends along with bell bottoms and I’ve got some of those too! When you have a sweater like this, though, I would opt for a modern fitted or legging type pant. And for the reverse, if sporting bell bottoms, I would try a fitted simple top.
