Last Friday, I had breakfast with three of my favorite people in the world: Mary, Tamela and Julia.  In addition to swapping stories about our kids First Communion outfits, I garnered a lot of great fashion and personal style tips.  After an hour and a half of talking about everything under the sun, we got up to say goodbye and Mary threw on the most gorgeous short coat I had ever seen.  She explained that she had just bought it at Zara.  I ran down to Zara immediately, bought the coat in white and black, and that became this week’s fashion post!

When you’re a Mom and it comes to fashion, you gotta act quick.  We moms don’t have time to peruse our closets and try on different combos.  Nope, we need to know what works, throw it on, and run out the door.  We need to know exactly what to go for when we’re thinking about what to wear on a date night with friends or with your hubby! That’s all there is time for.  I knew looking at this coat that I could wear it all the time: over jeans, skirts, Spring-Fall, which is why I didn’t hesitate to buy 2!  (Sorry, sweetie!).

I wore the coat for the first time on Saturday night for a fun night out with my sweetie.  We headed down to Brooklyn to see some of our closest friends Doris and Tripp.  First thing Doris said to me was “I love your coat!”  “Zara,” I immediately confessed.  “What?”  “I thought it was a designer,” she replied.   I was psyched.

I paired the coat with a short dress of mine and my favorite summer heels from Karen Millen, which I got on sale last summer.  If you love white and black, you gotta love white and cream too. Sometimes all it takes is playing dress up for the night to feel good about yourself!

All in all, a fun, easy and comfortable outfit for a Mom who took about 15 minutes to get ready — which is what it’s always like, right mamas?
