Mom Fashion: Light, Lacey & Short for Summer

Hello my dears! Melissa here back with our weekly Fashion post. We’ve had a gorgeous start to spring here in New York and that means we can pull out our short dresses, right? This week I pulled something out of my closet that I bought last year on sale at Sandro, a designer I love.
Short dresses don’t really mean the same thing when you’re a mom of young kids that they do when you’re a swinging single. My goal when deciding how to style a short dress is how to keep it fun and classy! What I loved about this dress was the lace and white collar paired with a sheer skirt (with a slip underneath, of course). To me, this peter pan collar dress felt sexy yet still classic and pretty.
I paired it with some old Stuart Weitzman patent sandals that go with just about everything and are comfortable to walk in, which is pretty high up on my list when I think about what shoes to wear with a dress – or any outfit! These sandals have been my staple for three years running.
Marc and I headed downtown on the subway to meet my yoga buddy Patty and her beau for dinner… we had a great time talking about food, movies, our kids, and all the rest.
All in all, a pretty good start to the weekend and to some fun summer fashion 2015! (By Saturday, the dress was gone of course and I was sitting at soccer practice in jeans and a tank top).
So when it doubt, GO SHORT and don’t be afraid to try something new. As long as it’s a style you feel comfortable in all around, you can’t go wrong! I truly believe that dressing and feeling good is all about feeling comfortable in our choices and having a positive body image.
Hope you enjoyed this little Fashion post and make sure to check back tomorrow for some reflections on how to find happiness as a Mom in our Thursday Reflections series.
Love,
Melissa
