Mom Fashion: Asymmetrical Linen Dress and Gladiator Sandals

Hello my dearies. Back from Barcelona with this week’s fashion post. Since I’m still getting my feet on the ground here and haven’t been able to hit any shops, this week I did the old “shop your closet” trick. Nothing better than fishing out an older item and making it work, right?
This navy linen dress has been a favorite since I purchased it at Calypso two years ago. I love the lightness of it, the length and the asymmetrical hemline, which gives this otherwise conservative dress a dash of fun. Linen dresses for summer, although they do get wrinkly, strike a nice balance between a casual and dressy.
After experimenting with a couple different sandal options, I went with these gold lamé Gladiator sandals from Stuart Weitzman (two years old also!). Spain is filled with Roman ruins, which my boys are fascinated by, so I think I was feeling inspired. My day included a lot of walking so heels were out of the question, but this dress would look great too with some heeled cork shoes or espadrilles, which are so hot this season. If you’re thinking about how to remix your wardrobe, pairing an older dress with a newer hip pair of shoes can do the trick.
The outfit proved comfy and cool and hopefully a wee bit elegant for a hot summer day.
Thanks so much for reading and see you next week for another Mom Fashion post from Spain!
Adiós!
Gratefully,
Melissa xoxo
