Hi there everyone. A few weeks back, Marc and I were honored to attend Barcelona’s Model World Congress 2019, a gathering of over 110,000 people from around the world focused on issues involving mobile, the Internet, and technology. I found the panels inspiring and thought-provoking and the atmosphere energizing. What to wear to such a modern, hip gathering? That posed another challenge!

Tartan skirts have outgrown their prior conservative reputation. Finding their origins in the Scottish plaids of another era, today’s tartan skirts have hip elements that render them fun and sexy. Take this recent version I have fallen in love with from one of my favorite brands, Maje. The skirt is divided in two: a flat front cut on a diagonal topped by a cropped, silver-buckled cowboy belt sets off the pleated back. This skirt looks great with any black top, black tights and high or low boots.

To complete my tartan skirt outfit, I added a Woolford bodysuit that I have been living in this past winter, Woolford opaque black hose, and my eight-year old Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots, a true classic.

At MWC19, I had the honor of meeting Marieme Jamme, the founder of iamthecode.org.

With its mission of training One million girls by 2030 to code, iamthecode is educating the first generation of female digital leaders in African. Herself a heroine, Marieme was brought to France through trafficking at age 13. At age 16, she was picked up by the police and placed in a home, where she began to teach herself to read and write. 30 years later, she stands as the founder of this incredible movement, backed among others by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In honor of Mariame and her movement, CloudMom is making a $100 donation to iamthecode.org in the name of Sarah L., our weekly winner.
