Maje Flowered Short Flowy Dress

Hi there, fashionista mamas. I’m usually a fan of tight dresses but sometimes you just feel so much more comfortable, free and natural in a flowy dress, right?

How to Style Flowy Dresses

I picked up this dress from Maje last Spring in Barcelona and wore it all winter with black tights and a thick black belt around the waist. Since it’s black, it looks great during any season. The tie-waist gives it a nice shape while remaining casual. Since it is loose-fitting, though, I think it requires some sexy shoes! During the winter, I paired it with some suede legging boots with very high heels. Here, I tried a pair of high, open DSW studded sandals.

The setting? A wonderful dinner with two of my besties, Tamela and Julia. We met at a wonderful Greek place in midtown, and enjoyed hummus, lamb and some exotic drinks. Sometimes you just need a night out like that to refresh you and give you the energy you need to power through your days as a mom.

This dress has small colorful flowers which make it summery event though it’s black.

Here’s our trio. We became the closest of friends around 12 years ago when Julia’s oldest Olivia was four, and Tamela’s youngest Austin attended class with Hedley. We clicked from the get-go and started meeting regularly for coffee or lunch. Those meals grew into an annual Christmas lunch and the occasional special-treat Broadway show. Somehow we manage to vent out all of our frustrations, laugh, talk about husbands, kids and life and also share fun shopping tips. I love both of these ladies dearly and they’ve played such a special role in my life. It probably helps that we are all small town girls in the big city. We all really appreciate every single city adventure, as if we are still visitors in the Big Apple. If gratitude is the key to happiness, I certainly have that towards Tamela and Julia and all the special moments we’ve shared.
