Hightops Paired with Nanette Lapore Dress

Hello mama dears. As wonderful as it is to be back home, I’m savoring all the memories we made last week in Rio. From a fashion standpoint, it was fun to get out of my daily yoga clothes and make a little more of an effort to look more put together as we explored the city. Never one to trade fashion for comfort, though, I still looked for outfits that we get me through the whole day feeling good, and comfortable shoes that would leave me without sore feet!
If you’ve got other suggestions for comfortable women’s shoes that look kinda hip, I’m all ears! Please comment below.
One outfit that turned out to be a good choice is what you see in today’s post. I paired a favorite Nanette Lepore casual summer dress (circa 2012) with a pair of blue, leather high-top sneakers I bought off the sales rack in Paris last July. Fun, creative high-top sneakers for women are not easy to come by and when I saw this pair, I fell in love and had to take the plunge. For earrings, I wore some costume, mother of pearl dangling hoops, and for a bracelet, a yellow ponytail holder (ha ha — this wasn’t planned, I’m just noticing this now in the photo — oops!). They say to spare the jewelry in Rio because it can be unsafe, so I really took that to heart and let the dress and sneakers combo shine on its own!
We had lunch that day near the harbor, watching boats and planes fly into Rio from afar.
The building you see behind me used to house a fish market on the harbor in Rio. Dilapidated and with weathered paint, it now provides an old-war setting for a delicious fish restaurant we loved trying.
After lunch, we headed to the Banco of Brasil, which was hosting an exhibit of works by the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, on loan from the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid (a place we did not manage to visit this past summer, so I will thrilled to catch a glimpse of their collection).
After quite a few hours on my feet, I still felt comfy, happy, and ready for more.
That’s it for this week’s fashion post and please check in next week for more!
Love,
Melissa xo
