Hi there, mamas and papas! If you’ve read my guide to choosing a stroller, then you know that if you drive a car, there are two indispensable items for bringing your baby with you on the go. Those are a stroller and a car seat. Why not save time and money and get them both in a package deal? That’s what you get with a travel system! Here’s my review of the best travel systems available today:
1. Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System
$399
- Size and weight (car seat): 28 x 15.5 x 22.5 inches, 10 pounds without base
- Range: infant to 50 pounds
- Durability: plastic and metal frame, large wheels with treaded tires and all-wheel suspension to navigate uneven terrain
- Maneuverability: no adapter needed to attach car seat to stroller, one-hand smart fold, self-standing, auto-swivel front wheels
- Style: modern design available in eight colors, large storage basket, two pockets, single adjustable handlebar
- Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m starting off with a bestseller, the Chicco Bravo Trio system. This system is among the more economical options on the market, and offers a great range of features for the price. The stroller’s seat is removable, making it capable of carrying your baby from infancy until the bigger kid stage. The stroller sports an adjustable handle (hallelujah!), a parent tray with cupholders, and an easy one-hand fold. The car seat is easy to install, with bubbles that indicate correct installation. Parents are very fond of this stroller, though bear in mind that it’s less adapted for rough surfaces and its wheels can get squeaky.
2. Graco NimbleLite Travel System
$173
- Size and weight (car seat): 28 x 18 x 16 inches; 14.7 pounds
- Range: 4 to 35 pounds, up to 32 inches
- Durability: mostly plastic lightweight frame
- Maneuverability: one-step fold, does not stand independently, does not include neck support
- Style: available in five colors, parent’s tray with storage, cup holders for parent and child, large storage basket
- Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Graco incoming, to offer an even more affordable option than the above system. You won’t find a better option at this price point. The NimbleLite travel system is remarkably lightweight, adding up to just 15 pounds, and is easy to collapse. It sports the features you expect—a canopy, basket, and cupholders—though it’s certainly a more basic model. Still, parents love it for the quality that you get for the price and its lightness!
3. Graco Ready2Grow LX 2.0 Double Stroller and SnugRide SnugLock 35 Elite Infant Car Seats
$234
- Size and weight (car seat): car seats not included
- Range: up to 50 pounds (included stroller seats)
- Durability: mostly plastic frame, suitable for everyday terrain; can support kids up to bigger kid stage
- Maneuverability: somewhat heavy, but rides smoothly on everyday terrain
- Style: available in two colors, large storage basket, removable parent cup holder and child belly bar with cup holder
- Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
For those of you parents with two babies, especially twins, look no further than the Graco Ready2Grow system. The Ready2Grow combines the concepts of the double stroller and the travel system. It accepts up to two infant car seats, although take note that these are sold separately (unlike the above systems). It follows your kids as they grow, hence the name, offering 12 ride options from infant to youth.
4. Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System With SafeMax Car Seat
$279
- Size and weight (car seat): 16.7 x 17.7 x 31.4 inches, 10 pounds
- Range: 4 to 35 pounds
- Durability: durable steel and plastic frame, cruiser tires for varied terrains
- Maneuverability: lightweight and easy to push, self-standing fold, six modes
- Style: sleek design in four colors, large canopy with a peek-a-boo window, an over-sized storage basket, removable arm bar with cup holder and snack tray
- Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Parents love the Evenflo Pivot Modular system for defying expectations. You wouldn’t normally expect to see such features as this system has for such a price as this. It features a modular frame with six modes, permitting a rear- or front-facing seating, and easy conversion from an infant to stroller seat or carriage mode. It’s made of durable materials, with exceptional safety features. The only downside is that, as reviewers note, it’s a little tricky to attach the car seat to the stroller. Nevertheless, it’s hard to beat a bargain like this one!
5. Nuna Mixx Next Stroller and Pipa Lite LX Car Seat
$1,199
- Size and weight (car seat): 27.3 x 17.5 x 22.5 inches, 6 pounds
- Range: 4 to 32 pounds, up to 32 inches (car seat); up to 50 pounds (stroller)
- Durability: durable frame, rubber wheels and enhanced all-wheel suspension for handling rough terrain, premium cotton fabric
- Maneuverability: front wheels with swivel and lock, self-standing compact fold, adjustable handlebar, included adapter for connecting car seat to stroller
- Style: large storage basket with compartment divider, hand-sewn leatherette handlebar and belly bar
- Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you’re in the market for a splurge, this system blows the others out of the water in aesthetics. These are a beautifully designed stroller and car seat, and they’re made of high-quality materials. Unfortunately, you will have to buy the stroller and car seat separately, and be aware that the fabric is delicate, supporting hand wash only. Reviewers love the easy glide and the leathery touches, variety of positions, and ease of collapsing. You won’t be disappointed here!
