A mom wrote in asking when she can move her 3 month old baby from eating every four hours to eating every five hours. My answers in today’s video.
3 Month Old Schedule
For babies between 1-4 months of age and 4-6 months of age, it is advised to give a bottle at least every four hours. Doctors generally consider five hours between feedings to be too long. Generally a three month old baby will feed every four hours and then have one or more additional feedings at night. Click here for my full schedule for formula fed babies of this age. What you’ll see is the following: feedings at four hour intervals beginning at 7am or 8am (say 7am, 11am, 3pm, and 7pm) followed by one or two top-off feeds later at night. In the early weeks, you of course might also be getting up to feed at night. Over time, the baby will drop these evening top-off feeds and nighttime feedings. Also between four and six months of age, your baby will begin eating solid foods which at this stage are soupy purees. But the every four hours schedule does not change.Watch my video for more advice and weigh in with your own below. Thanks so much for watching!
