Hello, hello!
I love getting questions from fans all over the world. This last one came in from a mother of a 3-month old who is having trouble with his feeding schedule. He is waking up at night crying and hungry, but our viewer is worried about creating a routine when this happens. What an excellent question and I hope I can help!
3 Month Old Breastfeeding Schedule
So, let’s talk 3 month olds. They are still very young babies and still need to eat. A lot. They’ll be feeding roughly every 3 to 4 hours, so about 6 to 7 times a day, on average.
At this age, I would recommend feeding very early in the morning around 7 or 8 AM. Once he’s awake, full, and burped (make sure he’s rejecting more food), put him back down for a nap about an hour and a half later. Continue this routine for the duration of the day.
And if your baby wakes up earlier than the schedule, don’t worry! Babies can get finicky and don’t always stick to the schedule every day. If he’s waking up and crying like you described, he’s most likely hungry. In that case, follow the breastfeeding routine guidelines above.
This routine worked wonders for my five little kiddies. I know it can seem frustrating and overwhelming at first, but you’re sure to get the hang of it soon. And before you know it, your baby will get into the routine and will be sleeping for longer stints at night. Good news for every mom! You can finally begin to catch up on (some) much needed sleep.

Thanks again for sending in your question about infant breastfeeding and I hope this helped!
