This past week Marc and I said goodbye to our preschooler and to the wonderful early education program around the corner from us that all of our five children have attended and adored.
You’ll find her head teacher Klara in the center of this picture behind the children. With Klara, I’ve seen all of my children rise to the occasion. Her expectations are high and they fulfill them. Her deep love and respect for kids is sensed by them, and they in turn want to be everything she expects. It truly is a magical thing to watch. I have often marveled at the calm and quiet in Klara’s class and asked myself how to replicate that at home!
These marvelous preschool age children stood without fidgeting, as poised and composed as college kids, during a one-hour ceremony, which included songs and speeches. Klara mentioned a number of families who had older “veteran” children who had also attended her class — including ours. It’s so hard to believe that over 10 years ago we began our lives at this warm, compassionate and dynamic community.
Proud mama and papa moment!
Here’s Marielle with our school’s wonderful director, who also is a yoga studio buddy of mine!
Look at the amazing cake baked by Muriel, a fellow Mom. She took this photo on our field trip to an observatory and playground a few weeks back.
I held back the tears all day, so grateful for the love and care my children have received at this amazing school. I’ll miss bringing Marielle to school there, although I know I will stay in touch with Klara and other friends.
