Tips for being pregnant in the summer

For the June of every year for the past five years, I’ve made my way down to Florida.  My kids attend a little day camp with the children of my best friends from college, which has become something of a tradition for our families. It’s nice to have a little peace and quiet away from the children, but man, it is HOT in Florida. I can remember being pregnant and vacationing in Florida, and all I can think of is how sweltering and miserable it could be at times. Luckily, there are a few ways to help you cool off in the heat during your pregnancy.  In this video, I give y’all a few summer pregnancy tips.

To start, this may sound a little cliched, but I found that elevating my legs really helped to cool me off during my summer pregnancies. If you’re riding in the car, sit in a seat where you have access to put your legs up. If you’re going out to eat at a restaurant, request an extra chair so that you can rest your legs while you eat. If you just need to lie down for a little while, go to your room, lay on the bed, and hoist those babies up and lay them against the wall. Leg veins are such a common issue for pregnant women, especially for women who become pregnant later in life (as was the case with me). The veins on my legs became so bad that my legs looked like a road map in a heavily populated area. Oh, the joys of pregnancy!

In my video, I’ll show you how finding the right footwear and using baby powder can help alleviate some of the problems that you’ll have with being pregnant during the summer months. Don’t forget to drink lots of water and try to get through this heat, ladies! Mamas, got any tips of your own for surviving a summer pregnancy? Let us all know by leaving a comment!
